Application

1.4108 / X90CrMoV18, also known as Cronidur® 30, is a high-nitrogen, highly corrosion-resistant, martensitic cold-work tool steel with outstanding toughness and a hardness >58 HRC. Nitrogen is alloyed beyond the usual solubility limit by means of electro-slag remelting at high pressure (DESU). The homogeneous microstructure with finely distributed carbonitrides and excellent purity results in outstanding dimensional accuracy, polishability and wear resistance. The 1.4108 or Cronidur 30 has a unique combination of properties that often make innovative and highly stressed applications possible in the first place: in aerospace, general mechanical engineering, medical, pharmaceutical and food technology, as well as in the manufacture of high-quality consumer goods in various industries.
