The material 1.6354 / Marage 300 is an ultra-high-strength, maraging steel that achieves its high strength properties compared to heat-treatable steels not by a hardening structure with a relatively high carbon content, but by precipitation of intermetallic phases from a tough, virtually carbon-free nickel maraging matrix.
