Application
Although the corrosion resistance of 1.4016 is lower than that of austenitic stainless grades, its ferritic microstructure makes it resistant to the effects of stress corrosion cracking, a form of corrosion to which most conventional austenitic stainless steels are very sensitive. Applications: food processing technology, apparatus engineering, vehicle construction, plant engineering, parts for higher corrosion requirements with good deep-drawing and polishing properties, such as cutlery, sink linings, bumpers, hubcaps, etc.
